Event Details

A collaboration between the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA), the California National Historic Trail Poster Project supports cultural tourism along the California National Historic Trail in Nevada. The project aims to bridge Native lands and National Trails by telling a more inclusive story of ancestral lands and their impact on Native people.

The artist chosen to complete the artwork for this newly envisioned poster is Cassandra Garback of the Pyramid Lake Paiute and Te-Moak Tribes. Her artwork captures the historical and contemporary cultural connections tribes have with the trail, which spans a vast, beautiful landscape. The poster was unveiled at this year’s 2024 American Indigenous Tourism Conference, and it will be used for outreach and educational purposes.

Please join us at this very special celebration!

The event program will include:

  • Hors d’Oeuvres
  • Blessing by Reynelda James, Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe
  • Drum Song by Eagle Wing Dancers
  • Speakers from AIANTA, BLM, and Nevada’s Indian Territory
  • Honor Song by Toby Stump
  • Photos with artist, Cassandra Garback
  • Drawing for signed, framed posters
